Burnt personifies the ancient cycle from its initial carbonization to eventual decomposition back to its original substance. Its violent transmogrify in the flicker of ionized gases. When brushed on the support, it washes slate of gray undulation that reminds the artist of the dismal moonscape land and rock become after the sweep of destruction of a forest fire.
Utilizing salvaged wood, Nalin burns his materials before quenching them with water to create his charcoal. The powdered carbon dust, fleeting and temporary, fills his studio & brings back subconscious recollections of the scorched rock he paddled past. The signs and the contrast on charred stumps, as the light winds play amongst the strong odour of powered ash that coats every surface.
Transcendent, a deep primordial interconnection between the ability to have consciousness of self & the ability to experience a world of objects. He harnesses the temporary & frangible method of application, to create a dynamic & stark reflection of Transcendence.
