I’m a professional artist who lives beside the lake in Toronto, Canada. With over 15 years of experience, I’ve built a career painting silly animals doing silly things. While I’m best know for my watercolours, I’ve been steadily building a portfolio of bright, bold and highly detailed coloured pencil drawings. It was while studying at fashion school that I was introduced to watercolour illustration. In the end it was paint, not fabric that stole my heart. Like all artists I’m inspired by the world around me, especially the small absurdities. My obsession with coffee also heavily influences my work.

I draw animals because animals make me happy. In my earlier life as a fashion designer it was texture and colour that inspired my work. When I started to study art seriously animals were a natural fit because rendering fur texture and colour is surprisingly similar to painting clothing surfaces. I’ve tried many times to make “serious” art but I’ve never been any good at it. I believe strongly that art can, and even should, be fun. Fun to design, fun to make and most importantly fun to look at.

I specialize in both watercolour and coloured pencil works on paper. Both mediums may be paper-based but that’s about all they have in common. Watercolour is fast, intuitive and a bit like magic. Coloured pencil is methodical, slow and involves a lot of pre-planning. Each medium allows me to take a different journey that finds the same destination in the end.
