Ismayil Atmaca
Ismayil Atmaca is a Toronto-based street photographer and visual artist who seeks to redefine photography through experimental methods. He merges black-and-white street photography with innovative presentation styles, creating a strong dialogue between traditional and contemporary techniques. His concept, Phucktography, pushes the boundaries of conventional photography by transforming images physically and blending multiple media. In his Glitch Series—a central body of work—he disrupts the photographic form by integrating wooden elements into prints, turning them into sculptural, fragmented compositions. He also incorporates burned paper, charcoal, and pastel, adding a tactile and raw emotional quality to his work. Atmaca has exhibited at The Other Art Fair in Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, and New York City, and held a solo exhibition at the Assembly Hall Gallery (City of Toronto) in 2024. After presenting at The Artist Project, he continues to expand his experimentation—recently exploring the intersection of concrete and photography, where the material’s raw strength meets the expressive depth of visual art. Through this evolving practice, he persistently pushes the limits of what photography can become.
